Amethyst: Geodes; Beds; SPECIMENS

geode with chalcedony

On this page we show some very nice geodes (also known as amethyst caves, or Madonnas) and beds which come from Brazil. Also included are amethyst specimen pieces - rare crystals or formations, including candle quartz and elestials; cut and polished freeforms and close-cut crystals. We cannot envisage any healing space without some amethyst! Larger geodes are sometimes broken up into slabs or beds, and these are amazing either stood on end to energise a space, or laid down as a bed for other crystals to lie on to be cleansed or charged. Geodes are lovely to have in a therapy room and also are an ideal shape for keeping small crystals in, or for storing or charging bottles of flower or gem essences - I charge my Archangel auric essences up in very similar geodes.

GEODES:

amethyst geode

07001:This is a nicely shaped cave with a nice outer skin of chalcedony and cacoxenite inclusions at the roots of the crystals. It weighs 5.6 kg and measures 20 x 23cm - £220

amethyst geode

07002: Here is another fine cave in an unusual shape, with a lovely layer of chalcedony forming a cluster of miniature "stalactites" in the roof. It weighs 5.8kg and measures 23 x 23cm - £225 SOLD

amethyst geode

07003: This is a really pretty geode, with a lovely deep colour and a fine layer of chalcedony and some cacoxenite inclusions. It weighs 5.8kg and measures 29 x 24cm - £220

amethyst geode

07004: The picture does not really do this tall and elegant cave justice! She is a lovely deep purple colour, with large well-coloured crystals and a smooth edged finish. She weighs 12.3kg and measures 15 x 40cm - £300

amethyst geode

07005: This is another elegant geode, with a finely polished edge and lovely deep purple large crystals with cacoxenite inclusions. It weighs 6.8kg and measures 20 x 32cm - £250

BEDS:

I can also obtain beds (or slabs) of amethyst crystals, ranging in size from 5cm to 1 metre in diameter, costing anything up to £1000! The one pictured above is an example of a 25cm bed with a lovely drusy cluster of clear quartz starburst crystals nestling in the lower corner, which sold recently - it had a lovely gentle energy! The large bed on the index page sold to someone else who is using it as the centre piece for their new shop.

NATURAL:

8I124: This is an extremely rare example of an amethyst candle quartz from Bolivia, also referred to as a celestial or an elestial (also amethyst trigonal by some). It does have elements of deep citrine within it as well, so perhaps could technically be called an ametrine crystal. This is the finest natural untouched and unpolished example I have ever seen (and I earth-keep 12 of them, so have some personal experience!) The sides show extensive candling and the termination is perfect, apart from a very small "ding". When Light shines through it, the clarity of the top (see close-up) becomes obvious, and the crystal glows with a magenta light. I would love to keep it for my own collection, but must not be too greedy! It stands 14.5cm tall and weighs 1.6kg. - £300 SOLD

8I127 (5).JPG (2508004 bytes) 8I127.JPG (2081695 bytes)

8I127: From the same locale, this is a cluster of amethyst candle quartz (celestial / elestial amethyst), and has a very interesting base. You will see from the overhead photo that the "candles" lie in a variety of directions, including some being horizontal - what you may think is white groundmass is in fact candling on the sides of some of the crystals! There is a photo of a very similar cluster in "The Book of Stones" on the "Amethyst" page. The terminations are pretty much intact, and very clear - again, when the light shines through it the whole cluster seems to glow with a magenta light. I feel it looks best on a sunny windowsill, or backlit on a shelf or cabinet. It is not for the faint-hearted, weighing in at 5.2kg and measuring 25cm wide by 16cm deep and 11cm tall. - £450

I also stock natural amethyst points from around the world, and have some of the rare Guerro amethysts and Vera Cruz amethysts from Mexico for sale, as well as Brandburg and Spirit Amethyst from South Africa.

CUT & POLISHED:

FREEFORM:

8i035 (1).JPG (2187503 bytes) 8i035 (2).JPG (2214966 bytes)

8I035: This is a freeform carved from a large skeletal / elestial quartz. The top has an area of dense purple-pink amethyst phantom formation, and there is a deep inclusion of titanium and hematite down one of the sides, which sparkles in the sunlight. This is sometimes referred to as harlequin quartz - I like to call it fire quartz! Within you can also see some skeletal layering. This crystal weighs in at 2.33kg and measures 11cm wide by 16cm tall. - £100

I also stock polished amethyst pebbles and "soaps" of varying sizes and colour depth, some of which also contain goethite - very fine dark fibres.

CLOSE-CUT:

8I002 (1).JPG (1647543 bytes) 8I002 (3).JPG (2134615 bytes)

8I002: This is a close-cut amethyst skeletal quartz, containing layers of amethyst and clear quartz and some needle-fine goethite fibres (see bottom of crystal in first photo). It weighs .62kg and measures 8.5 by 10.5cm. - £55

I also have some other fine cut amethyst specimens from Madagascar. They are nearly all polished, as the natural surface finish of crystals from this region is rather chalky. Skeletal (elestial) amethysts are the norm from here, and many have enhydros (water bubbles included) or layers of trapped air. It is also common to find them layered with clear or smoky quartz, often in phantom formations. Below you will see some examples of some I have for sale. I sold the amazing polished amethyst sceptre (centre in the picture below) as soon as I got it, and never know what will turn up next! Each one shown weighs up to .75kg, and are priced between £10 and £120, depending on size and formation.
